After Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and Sasi Kumar Mukund’s success yesterday, Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan have gotten off to a great start at the Pune Challenger as well. Apart from singles, five Indians were also in action in doubles at the Challenger 100 event.
Top seed Sumit Nagal beat Taiwan’s Yu Hsiou Hsu and set up a meeting with compatriot Poonacha in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Ramanathan beat Bangalore Open winner Stefano Napolitano in two tough tiebreakers to set up a meeting with Russian qualifier Alexey Zakharov.
Meanwhile, in doubles, fourth seed N Sriram Balaji and Andre Begemann lost in three sets, and unranked Indian duo Siddhant Banthia and Parikshit Somani beat Goncalo Oliveira and Luca Margaroli.
