The league, which resumed this year after a two-year hiatus due to COVID, saw numerous intense battles on the mat between the 12 teams, with veteran war-horners proving their mettle again and newer stars being unearthed simultaneously. InsideSport now takes a look at the seven best players who can form the Dream Team of the league stage of Pro Kabaddi League season 8.
Pro Kabaddi Playoffs: From Pawan Sehrawat to Jaideep – Best Team of the league phase of PKL 8
Pawan Sehrawat
Pawan Sehrawat, the ‘High-Flyer’ is flying high in the raiders leaderboard by racking up the maximum raid points in the league. He has scored 289 raid points in 22 matches and has been the sole man responsible for carrying his team into the playoffs. Under Sehrawat, the team had a great start to the season. However, towards the end of the league stage, Pawan Sehrawat lost his form a bit and the team too faced many defeats that made them lose their spot in the Top two. He will look to bounce back to form in the eliminator and take his team into the semi-final.
Maninder Singh
Maninder Singh gave a terrific one-man show for Bengal Warriors this season. The defending champions were carried entirely by the skipper this season. The captain has put up a terrific raiding display whenever he steps onto the mat despite the lack of support from other raiders. With no support from other raiders, the team eventually lost out on a spot in the playoffs. Maninder has accumulated 264 raid points in 22 matches and is third on the list of raiders with maximum raid points.

Aslam Inamdar
Aslam Inamdar was the man responsible for the tremendous resurrection of the Puneri Paltan this season. In just his debut season at the Pro Kabaddi League, Aslam Inamdar has already become one of the main players for the Puneri Paltan. Puneri Paltan is a team that has big names like Nitin Tomar and the Showman Rahul Chaudhari in its ranks. But both the players have not performed to their potential which has made coach Anup Kumar bring in Aslam as the main raider. The move paid off very well as Paltan started clinching victories. Aslam has scored 179 raid points in 22 matches. He will be the one to look out for in the upcoming seasons.

Sagar Rathee
Tamil Thalaivas defender Sagar Rathee had a spectacular season in the Pro Kabaddi League’s eight edition. He leads the defenders points table, having scored 82 tackle points, the most by a defender this season. He also became the first defender this year to bag 50 tackle points. Despite having not qualified for the playoffs, Tamil Thalaivas’ Sagar’s contribution to the team was huge. He has emerged as one of the pillars in the defence along with skipper Surjeet Singh and he has repaid the faith the team shown in him as he was retained by the franchise ahead of the auction.

Mohamadreza Shadloui
Iranian all-rounder Mohamadreza Shadloui has emerged as the star defender for the new-look Patna Pirates. Playing his first PKL season, Shadloui is having a terrific debut. The tall youngster has played a pivotal role in helping Patna Pirates finish on top of the table, as he has accumulated 81 tackle points in 22 matches so far. He has been a nightmare for the opposition raiders as whenever they enter the Pirates territory, Shadloui would always be the first man to pounce on the raider, successfully pinning him down. He has emerged as the leader of the Pirates defence.

Rinku
In a team that had Fazel Atrachali, who is one of the world’s best defender, Rinku has done a tremendous job and outshined Atrachali to emerge as U Mumba’s best defender of the season. This is a very commendable feat, especially from a youngster, who made his debut only this season. Despite the team not qualifying for the playoffs, Rinku’s contribution to U Mumba’s defence has been immense this year. He has scored 53 tackle points in 22 games. He also owns the record for performing the first-ever solo Super Tackle in the history of the league.

Jaideep
Jaideep is another youngster who has impressed everyone in his very first season at the Pro Kabaddi League. Playing for Haryana Steelers, Jaideep took the defence on his shoulders and played a very crucial role in almost taking the team to the playoffs. The team was in contention until their last game but a loss to Patna Pirates knocked them out of the tournament. Jaideep has scored 66 tackle points in 22 matches, including 5 High 5s.
