Pro Kabaddi PKL 8: ‘Naveen Express’ becomes the fastest raider to score 600 raid points
The 21-year old achieved the feat in last night’s game against Jaipur Pink Panthers where he picked up seven tackle points and in the process broke the previous record set by the ‘Record Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal, who took 63 games to reach 600 points. Naveen achieved it in just his 53rd match, 10 matches faster than Pardeep.
However, despite Naveen’s record-breaking feat in the match, it was not a happy outing for his team as Jaipur Pink Panthers beat them 30-28 in a nail-biting closely contested thriller, handing Delhi their first loss of the season bringing to an end a seven-match unbeaten streak.
Playing just his third season of the marquee league, Naveen has already emerged as a talismanic raider with his brilliant performances. This year, he became the first player to reach 100-raid points and secured seven consecutive super 10s in as many games.
Naveen brings with him a fresh energy and with quick feet movement, he has become someone who is very difficult to tackle and even seasoned defenders have struggled to contain him.
This year, Dabang Delhi is a team that has many experienced names in the squad like Ajay Thakur, Manjeet Chillar, Sandeep Narwal, Joginder Narwal and Jeeva Kumar. However despite their presence, Naveen has carried his entire team on his shoulders.
Naveen has played a very big role in Dabang Delhi currently topping the league table with 32 points on the board in eight matches. They have won five games while two matches resulted in a tie. Dabang Delhi finished as runners up last season and this year the team is well on its course to win its first title.
