Puneri Paltan beat Gujarat Giants 33-26

A sensational display from Puneri Paltan’s young duo of Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar helped them beat the Gujarat Giants 33-26. Mohit scored his first Super 10 in vivo Pro Kabaddi, while Inamdar finished the night with eight points.

Mohit Goyat is a product of the Future Kabaddi Heroes program and was exceptional in the local tournaments earlier in the year in the lead-up to the auction that prompted coach Anup Kumar to include him in the Paltan.

After splitting the first eight points evenly with the Giants, the Paltan seized the advantage courtesy of four unanswered points that left Gujarat with two men on the mat. Mohit took care of both defenders in the same raid to help his side inflict an All Out and take a six-point lead.

The Giants outscored the Paltan by three points in the five minutes that followed the All Out as they tried to mount a comeback. Mohit and Vishwas S, however, responded to the Giants’ surge with four unanswered points to push their team’s lead up to seven. The Giants picked up a couple of points while Aslam Inamdar helped his side add one to their tally in the final minute of the first half, as the teams went into the break with the Paltan leading 19-13.

At the start of the second half, the Giants were down to just two men on the mat but outscored the Paltan 3-1 to keep the All Out at bay. However, that proved to be only momentary respite as the Paltan’s raiders helped their side inflict the All Out and help their side take a nine-point lead.

Rakesh and Ajay Kumar added three unanswered points to their team’s total to help them cut the Giants’ deficit to five. But Inamdar added three points of his own with his all-round brilliance to ensure the Paltan maintain their sizeable lead.

Vishal Bhardwaj and Baldev Singh then combined to send Ajay to the bench, leaving the Giants with three men on the mat. Gujarat’s cover duo of Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil Kumar one-upped the Paltan’s corner duo by Super Tackling Inamdar to keep their team’s flickering hopes of a comeback alive.

Rakesh’s self out revived Inamdar, but the Giants’ cover duo ensured it was a short return for the Paltan raider, as they combined to pin the raider down to cut the Paltan’s lead to five. Baldev responded with a tackle of his own, and Mohit completed his Super 10 by escaping Ravinder Pahal’s Ankle Hold attempt to ensure the Paltan register their second win of the season.

Dabang Delhi K.C. vs Telugu Titans – 8:30 PM

Dabang Delhi KC are the only unbeaten side in Season 8 but it took their best to manage a tie against Tamil Thalaivas in their latest match. Naveen Kumar has been his formidable best with 5 Super 10s in as many matches but Dabang’s reliance on their star raider can backfire if he spends too much time away from the mat.

To stop Naveen Kumar, Titans’ corner defenders Rituraj Koravi and Sandeep Kandola would need to be in top form. They’ve shown glimpses of their potential in the recent matches but in Naveen, they face the most complete raider in the league. Titans’ raiders have also shown they can cope without captain Rohit Kumar and injured Siddharth Desai. Young stars Ankit Beniwal and Rakesh Gowda will be eyeing to exploit the weaknesses in Delhi’s left side of defence manned by season veterans Joginder Narwal and Manjit Chhillar
