India’s Women’s Doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand and World No. 30 Priyanshu Rajawat have pulled out of the Denmark Open 2023. The trio now join HS Prannoy, who has already opted to miss the tournament owing to a back injury. The BWF Super 750 tournament will get underway from 17th October, Tuesday.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were India’s only Women’s Doubles pair in the Denmark Open. They were supposed to face Thailand’s Aimsaard sisters in the first round of the tournament. The Indian pair were also placed in the third quarter of the draws. It has Japan’s fouth seeds Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota and fifth seeds Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida.
Priyanshu Rajawat meanwhile was placed in the quarter that has World No.1 Viktor Axelsen. He was supposed to face Malaysia’s World No.11 Lee Zii Jia in the first round of the Denmark Open.
After Rajawat and Prannoy’s withdrawal, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will be the only Indians to feature in the Men’s Singles in the Super 750 event.
Aakarshi Kashyap enters Denmark Open main draw
Meanwhile India’s Aakarshi Kashyap has been added to the main draw in the Women’s Singles. The Indian is ranked World No.38 and she has made it to the main draw as a replacement to World No.2 Akane Yamaguchi. The Japanese has pulled out of the tournament.
Aakarshi Kashyap will face Germany’s Yvonne Li in the first round. Apart from Aakarshi, Sindhu will also be in action in the Women’s Singles. The World No.12 is eyeing redemption and she enters the tournament after bowing out from the semifinal at the Arctic Open last week.
