India’s top para badminton player Pramod Bhagat won the gold medal at the Japan Para-Badminton International tournament on Sunday, as he beat compatriot Manoj Sarkar in the final of the men’s single SL3 category. Pramod, who had won the gold medal at the Paralympics 2020, won 21-16, 21-19.
Meanwhile, Indian shuttlers won a total of 17 medals at the competition with three golds, four silvers, and 10 bronzes. In the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 final, the Indian team of Nehal Gupta and Naveen Sivakumar clinched gold by beating countrymen Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Manoj Sarkar. The last title came in the women’s doubles SL3-SU5 category where Manasi Joshi and Thulasimathi Murugesan emerged winners.
As far as the women’s singles SU 5 category is concerned, Murugesan landed a silver there with Manisha Ramadass finishing third. The men’s singles SL4 category saw Sukant Kadam and Tarun bagging bronze medals. In the women’s singles SL3, Manasi Joshi cliched another bronze medal.
