Powerlifting at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, is scheduled to occur from September 4 to 8, 2024, at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena. The competition will feature a total of twenty events, with ten events each for men and women.
Four Indian para athletes will be competing in Para Powerlifting in Paris, including Parmjeet Kumar, Sakina Khatun, Ashok, and Kasthuri Rajamani.
What is Powerlifting Paralympics?
The Paralympic sport of weightlifting, which paved the way for powerlifting, was introduced in Tokyo 1964. Twenty years later, in 1984, powerlifting made its Paralympic debut. A women’s powerlifting competition was not added to the Paralympic Games until the Sydney Games in 2000.
