‘Please help’, Shuttler Lakshya Sen seeks government intervention – Check Why?

Shuttler Lakshya Sen has sought help from the government ahead of his participation in Japan Masters and China Masters

Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen is gearing up for his upcoming tournaments in Japan and China. Ahead of the big events, he has sought a big help from the Indian government. He has urged Union urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar’s intervention to sort out his visa issues.

The 22-year old shuttler has planned to leave to Japan on Saturday, 11th November. The Japan Masters gets underway at 14th November. However he and the members of his coaching team are yet to get a visa to travel.

Lakshya Sen took to X (formerly Twitter) and sought the government intervention. “I have to travel to Japan & China Open on Sat. Me and my team applied for Japan visa on 30/10/23. We still haven’t got the visa. I have to apply for a China visa as well. Urgent request for visa for myself, my coach and physio. Please help,” he wrote.

The Japan Masters is a Super 500 event in the BWF Tour. It will begin of 14th Novmber. Subsequently, the China Masters will get underway on 21st November. It is a BWF Super 750 event.

Lakshya Sen to return to the tour after French Open

Lakshya Sen last played at the French Open in October. He crashed out from the first round after losing against Arnaud Merkle. In the latest BWF Rankings, Lakshya is ranked 17th. He is the second-highest ranked Indian after HS Prannoy, who has retained his place as the World No.8.
