Early Life
Born in the Golaghat district of Assam, Lovlina’s life has been centred around sports from a young age. Her father, Tiken Borgohain, a small-scale businessman, faced financial challenges but supported her ambitions. Initially a Muay Thai practitioner, Lovlina was inspired to take up boxing after her twin sisters, Licha and Lima, pursued kickboxing. Lovlina’s talent was spotted during trials held by the Sports Authority of India at her high school, Barpathar Girls High School. She was selected by Coach Padum Chandra Bodo at the SAI STC Guwahati in 2012 and later trained under Sandhya Gurung.

Personal Life
Outside the boxing ring, Lovlina enjoys spending time with her family. Shy, reticent, and introverted, she moved to Guwahati at 15 to fulfil her mother’s dream of proving that girls are not ‘lesser’. After losing in the quarter-finals of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Lovlina realised that physical fitness alone wasn’t enough and turned to meditation. However, she gave up meditation before the Tokyo Olympics, opting instead to free her mind. Lovlina’s achievements have brought significant changes to her village, including concrete roads and clean drinking water.
