“The league would like to wish Pawan a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in action soon,” the statement added.
This news comes as a shocker to Tamil Thalaivas, who are placed 11th on the 12-team points table in PKL 2022. The Tamil Nadu-based team was hoping to get Pawan back on their side in the later part of the season but it won’t be possible now as confirmed earlier in the day.
Pawan Sehrawat himself confirmed this news later in the day through a social media post.
“Despite all of my efforts and thoughts to give it a try this season without surgery, unfortunately, it won’t be possible for me to play this season.. The surgery was successful and I would like to thank Tamil Thalaivas owners and Management for extending all of their support to me. I Specially mention my family and all my fans to always stay by my side and support me.. I will be in my rehab process soon and will keep you all updated on the process to be back on matt and play Kabaddi,” Pawan Sehrawat wrote on his Instagram.
“Keep me in your wishes and blessings to recover soon,” Pawan added.

Pawan Sehrawat, probably the greatest raider in Kabaddi hurt his knees in the opening fixture of Thalaivas against Gujarat Giants and has since remained out of action. The 23-year-old was roped in by Thalaivas for a whopping Rs 2.26 crore in the 2022 auction, making him the most expensive player in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Thalaivas desperately need some revival in their raiding department at the moment. Their captain and PKL phenom Pawan Sehrawat was out injured in the first game where they played out a tie against Gujarat Giants. Men in Yellow are currently on a three-match unbeaten run. But this run falls short when seen through a spherical mirror as Thalaivas has just won three out of nine matches this season, losing four, and two other clashes resulted in a tie.
Pawan Sehrawat PKL9 Injury: How Pawan got injured in PKL 2022?
Nicknamed ‘The High-Flyer’, Pawan has been the best raider in PKL for the last three seasons. For Bengaluru Bulls last season, he topped the overall raid points leaderboard with 304 points in 24 matches. However his association with the Bulls surprisingly came to an end ahead of the auction this year and he was bought by the Tamil Thalaivas, who broke the bank by splurging out 2.26 Crores to secure his services.
He is third in the list of the all-time leaderboard, having scored 986 points.
Ahead of the game vs Titans, he was expected to surpass the 1000 raid points. Leading the Thalaivas, he started the contest by putting in two raids in which he secured a bonus point while the other one was an empty raid.
Soon, he attempted a tackle on the opposition skipper Chandran Ranjith. But he fell awkwardly twisting his right knee and was seen wincing in pain. The injury looked very serious as he was unable to move and had to be stretchered off the mat.
