Paris Paralympics: Preethi Pal wins bronze in women’s 200m T35

Preethi Pal wins bronze in the Women's 200m T35 at the Paris Paralympics, setting a personal best time.

India’s sprinter Preethi Pal added another medal for the country at the Paris Paralympics after winning bronze in the women’s 200m – T35 on Sunday in Paris. The sprinter from Uttar Pradesh finished with a time of 30.01, which is also her personal best. Xia Zhou won the gold medal with a time of 28.15, which is her season best.

Preethi Pal scripted history as she became the first-ever Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics or Olympics. Earlier, she bagged bronze in the 100m event at the Paris Paralympics on Friday.

Preethi joins the elite club at Parlympians

Preethi Pal joins the elite club of Indian Paralympians who have won more than one medal at a single edition of the Paralympic Games. Earlier, shooter Avani Lekhara won one gold and one bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics. Another shooter from Haryana, Singhraj Adhana, also won a silver and a bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics. Now, Preethi has become the third Paralympian to achieve this feat.
