Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification

In a cruel twist of fate for the 29-year-old from Haryana, who beat all off-the-mat odds to make the Paris Olympic qualification cut and later scripted a stunning run to the final on Tuesday, which included the win against defending champion and world no. 1 Yui Susaki of Japan in the opener, couldn’t make the weight limits on the morning of her final. She was found to be 100–150 grams over the permissible limit and hence disqualified.

Antim Panghal’s accreditation revoked
Indian wrestler Antim Panghal’s Paris Olympics village accreditation was revoked by the authorities after her sister was caught by security officials falsely using it to enter the campus. Antim’s sister, Nisha Panghal, was briefly detained for her crime by the Paris police but was later let go with a warning upon the intervention of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). However, the mishap has since led to the IOA instructing Antim to leave Paris with her coach, brother, and sister.
