Paris Olympics: Manu Bhaker-Sarabjot Singh qualify for bronze in 10 M Air Pistol finals clash after finishing 3rd in qualifiers

India’s chance of getting a medal has increased manifold in Paris Olympics. Manu Bhaker & Sarabjot Singh made it to the finals. On the other hand, after a tough fight, Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Singh Cheema failed. A poor performance in Series 3 saw them drop to the 10th place. But it won’t be a gold for Manu & Sarabjot since they qualified third and will fight for the bronze medal.

The 10 m Air Pistol Qualifiers in mixed doubles saw 2 Indian teams compete. The first team consisted of Manu Bakher and Sarabjot Singh. On the other hand, the second team consists of Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Singh Cheema. The former duo started off well and eventually qualified among the top 4.

The rules of the game are fairly simple. Each series has a total of 10 shots for each player. In the end, the combined score is taken. India has always been a cut above the rest given they hold both the World Record Qualification and Olympics record qualification in this vertical.

Manu-Sarabjot qualify

The duo started off well taking an early lead to hold their spot in the second position with a series 1 score of 193. Despite a good score of 195 in Series 2, the duo dropped to the 4th spot. They eventually made ground in Series 3 where they achieved a score of 192. A further poor Series 3 of 190 saw them drop to the 10th spot and get knocked out of the finals.

Rhythm and Arjun had a good start. They started with a Series 1 score of 194 and took the 4th spot. But their Series 2 score was poor – 192, which saw them drop to the 7th spot.

Only the top 2 qualified teams fight for gold, while the third and fourth placed teams fight for the last bronze medal spot. Bhaker has a chance of clinching an Olympics medal tomorrow at 1 PM IST.
