Paris Olympics LIVE: In an unfortunate turn of events, India’s gold medal hope in wrestling, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the tournament on account of being overweight. If that wasn’t enough, India’s another hope, Antim Panghal lost her opening round match in the women’s 53 kg. The day also ended on a disappointing note as Mirabai Chanu failed to bag a medal in the women’s 49 kg weightlifting.
It is Day 12 of the Paris Olympics. And India has a great chance of bagging the gold medal. Vinesh Phogat is slated to take on Sarah Ann Hildebrandt in the Women’s Freestyle 50kg Final. Later on in the day, ace weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will take the center stage in the 49kg category.
And that is not all, Antim Phangal will compete in the Women’s Freestyle 53kg quarters and semis should she progresses. Meanwhile ace putter Aditi Ashok will also be in action. India women’s table tennis team will take on Germany in the semifinals while Avinash Sable will compete in the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase Final.
