Paris Olympics gold denied, Khap panchayats set to reward Vinesh Phogat with their own Gold Medal

No Paris gold, no problem! Khap panchayats set to reward Vinesh Phogat with their own gold medal after Paris Olympics 2024 heroics

Vinesh Phogat might not have won a gold medal at Paris Olympics. But the ace Indian wrestler will be getting a gold medal from the khap panchayats. Vinesh’s run at the French capital ended in a disaster when she was disqualified from taking part in the finals. The Indian wrestler was found to be 100 gm overweight.

Vinesh then applied for getting a joint silver medal. She sent her petition to CAS which was ultimately refused. However, the star athlete returned home a couple of days back where she was met with a rousing reception. And now the khap panchayats are determined to reward Vinesh with their own gold medal.

“We will make a medal with gold like the one given to gold medallists in the Olympics. It may weigh 50 grams or 100 grams,” said Sangwan khap president Sombir Sangwan.

“The way in which the wrestler was disqualified from the competition on the pretext of being 100 grams overweight is intolerable. There is no doubt that a conspiracy was hatched against her but she has won the hearts of crores of people after winning three matches in the Olympics. That’s why every Indian is giving her more honour than a gold medal winner,” Sangwan added.

Not just khap panchayat leaders from Haryana, but from other states will also be present at Vinesh Phogat’s felicitation.
