Moments after their sons were crowned gold and silver medalists, the media rushed to their homes and asked the mothers how they felt. Both were happy that their son finished on the podium. This was especially true for Neeraj’s mother, Saroj Devi, who wasn’t saddened about her son not being able to defend his gold medal and had to settle for a silver instead. “We’re happy with silver. The one who won gold (Arshad Nadeem) is also my child and works hard.” Neeraj’s mother said.
In Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem’s mother said, “He’s (Neeraj Chopra), my son’s friend and brother. Winning and losing is part of the game. He’s like my son, and I hope God gives him much success and many medals after this.”
