Paris Diamond League: Olympics-bound Kishore Jena fails to impress, finishes 8th in Javelin throw

The Indian star produced an underwhelming effort with his best throw of 78.10m far from his best of 87.54m.

At the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, Kishore Jena of India placed eighth in the men’s javelin throw. It was Jena’s responsibility to ignite India’s spark without Neeraj Chopra, who had opted out of the competition to focus on the Olympics in 2024. With a best throw of 78.10m, the 28-year-old was by no means at his best.

Kishore Jena nowhere near his best

On his very first try, Jena made the best throw of the day. The Indian star was able to make two more successful throws after that, but they were far short of his career best of 87.54 meters. Jena tried hard but was unable to cross the 80-meter mark.

He wasn’t the only member of the 10-man field to miss the 80-meter mark. Only the top 5 competitors were able to cross the 80-meter mark, with Julian Weber of Germany winning with a throw of 85.91 meters.

Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan participated in the race as well and placed No. 4 with an 84.21 meter best effort.
