Paris 2024 Olympics: India eye to grab maiden gold with Manu Bhaker. PV Sindhu, Sreeja Akula, Dhinidhi Desinghu ready to start strongly

Day 2 of the Paris Olympics 2024 has started on a bright note for the Indian camp as first in the women’s 10m air rifle competition, Ramita Jindal made it to the final. Then come the men’s event in the same category, Arjun Babuta also made the cut for the final. Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker did the unthinkable for India as she bagged a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol.

It is time for Day 2 of Paris Olympics. In badminton PV Sindhu breezed past her opponent. Ramita Jindal qualified for the medals round in 10 m Air Rifle qualifiers. But Elavenil Valarivan had to crash out despite a good start. Manu Bhaker has the best chance of grabbing a gold medal. She aced the qualifying round yesterday. Sreeja Akula overpowered her opponent 4-0 to march to the next round. Manika Batra too will be in action. In boxing Nikhat Zareen will take part in her round of 32 prelims.

Table Tennis veteran Sharath Kamal bowed out to Denis Kozul with a 4-2 loss. Tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna will take center stage with N Sriram Balaji in men’s double Round 1 clash. In swimming, young prodigy Dhinidhi Desinghu will compete in the 200 m Freestyle heats.

17-year-old World No 5 Felix Leburn has defeated India’s Harmeet Desai by 4-0.
