Lakshya Sen storms into Olympic semi-finals, becomes first Indian man to do so

With Lakshya Sen in semi-finals, Indian Badminton contingent still have hopes to win a medal at Paris Olympics.

Lakshya Sen has etched his name in Indian badminton history by becoming the first Indian man to reach the semifinals of the Olympics. The 22-year-old sensation defeated Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in a thrilling quarterfinal match at Paris Olympics.

With this win in the quarterfinal, Indian have set-up a potential showdown with either Denmark’s second-seed Viktor Axelsen or Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the semi-final.

The Indian defeated man from Chinese Taipei by 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.

Indian Badminton stars Saina Nehwal (Bronze at London 2012), PV Sindhu (Rio 2016 Silver and Tokyo 2020 Bronze) have each won Olympic medals for India since 2012 Olympics.
