20th Indian shooter bags Paris 2024 quota as Palak Gulia wins bronze at Qualification Championship

Palak has secured India's 16th and last quota available for the Paris Games in the pistol and rifle category.

Asian Games 2023 gold medalist Palak Gulia has secured a quote for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the 10-meter women’s air pistol category. The 18-year-old claimed a bronze medal in the ISSF qualification championship in Rio de Janeiro on April 14.

With this, India has claimed all the possible 16 Olympic quota places available for the Paris Olympics, in rifle and pistol. Palak Gulia was just one of three shooters that India had fielded to secure the final Olympic quota in rifle and pistol. As many as 466 shooters from 76 countries had reached Brazil for 16 Olympic quotas.

Now, it’s up to shotgun shooters in trap and skeet (both men and women) to secure the remaining 4 quotas that India can get. They’ll get a chance to do it from April 21 to 28 for the final Pairs 2024 Olympic qualification championship held in Doha, Qatar.
