Arshad Nadeem gets cash reward, celebrated like hero in Pakistan
As per reports, Karachi mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui promise a reward of PKR 50 million for gold medalist Arshad Nadeem on behalf of the Sindh government on Geo TV.
The star athlete’s gold medal glory was also celebrated on the streets of Pakistan despite the late night timing of the match.
Arshad’s victory marked the first Olympic medal for Pakistan since 1998 and the first gold medal since 1984.
With support from the Pakistan cricket fraternity, especially PSL franchise Multan Sultans, Arshad Nadeem fought his way to a gold medal. He bagged a silver medal in the World Championships and gold in the Commonwealth Games to warm up for the Olympics.
