Padma Awards 2021: PV Sindhu honored with Padma Bhushan, Rani Rampal, Tarundeep Rai get Padma Shri: The President of India on Monday conferred the winners of the Padma Awards 2021 with respective awards. India’s ace shuttler and two times Olympic medalist PV Sindhu was honored with the third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan while Indian Women’s Hockey team captain Rani Rampal was awarded the Padma Shri Award.
Sindhu, who has won two Olympic medals and a gold medal at the World Championship was conferred with the Padma Bhusan 2021 in the sports category.

Sindhu expressed her delight after receiving the honor and said these kinds of awards give us a lot of encouragement.
“It is a proud moment. I am very thankful to the Government of India, all of the ministers, and President sir for giving me this award. I am very very happy, these kinds of awards give us a lot of encouragement, support and motivation to do much better in the coming future,” PV Sindhu said after receiving the Padma Bhushan award.
“Definitely I would work hard and give my best. I have some upcoming tournaments, so I hope I do well and give my best in them,” she added.
Meanwhile, Rani Rampal, who led the Indian women’s hockey team as captain in the 2018 Asian Games, where they won a silver medal was honored with the Padma Shri Award. Archer Tarundeep Rai was also conferred with the Padma Shri Award.

“I want to thank the Government of India and the entire archery fraternity. I will strive to maintain the sanctity of this award and I will perform my role fully. It is a big honor and some legends of the sport were given this honor earlier. Archery has undergone many changes, I am sure more and more people will take up the sport,” told Tarundeep.
