What is the tradition? –
As tradition at the Wimbledon Championships, every winner is greeted to a warm welcome from the All England Lawn Tennis Association (AELTA). As gesture of remark, the officials of the AELTA lead the champion of both Men’s and Women’s singles to the balcony to address the crowd after winning the title.
What was the incident?
While Djokovic was on his way to the balcony, the Royal Family of England greeted Novak. Prince Williams, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and young little Prince George were present in the staircase.
Djokovic addressed them on his way and had a chat, while he asked Prince George, would he like to hold the trophy and also asking “Don’t drop it!”
Upon which the prince replied and was presented the trophy by the 21-time Grand Slam champion. Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton then was seen asking prince to handle the trophy carefully and touched on the top apex of the trophy.
After a brief conversation with Royal Family, he departed to address the crowd in the balcony, where thousands of fans were seen appreciating the Wimbledon Champion.
