Daniil Medvedev is not too pleased with his portrayal as a ‘villain’ in Netflix’s tennis docu-series’ Break Point’. The world No. 3 made his intentions clear about the show and his representation in it during his press conference ahead of the first round of the Australian Open 2024.
For the unaware, the fourth episode of season two of the show Break Point featured Medvedev, with Alexander Zverev being the main star whom the show follows. Throughout the episode titled ‘Unfinished Business’, the Russian is shown as a provocateur on the court.
On being asked if he saw the episode and his comments on his portrayal, Daniil Medvedev said:
“I didn’t watch the episode. I saw a little bit here and there. I’m still on social media. I didn’t watch it and probably will not because I’ll get frustrated probably (laughter). I heard a little bit. I don’t have much to say.“
Daniil Medvedev further stated that Netflix exaggerates everything. Being candid, he claimed that he is aware that some of his behavior on the court can be tricky, but at the end of the day, it’s a series and not real life.
“That’s how Netflix is, and that’s why we see it because it exaggerates things; it’s usually hot and cold; there is no neutral. People around me, people in the locker room—they know how I am, how I am on court, which can be tricky, and how I am off court. I feel like I have a good relationship with mostly all of the tour. I don’t have much to add because a series is not real life.”
