The 27-year old posted a picture of him lying on a hospital bed with an oxygen tube on Monday. World No.21 Kyrgios has undergone an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He had a torn meniscus and cyst in his knee that ruled him out of his home Grand Slam event. The surgery seems to have
Kyrgios raised the hopes of the Australian Tennis fans following his runner up finish in Wimbledon 2022. He was touted by the Australian fans as one of the title favourites. However the hopes were dashed as he withdrew from the Grand Slam event even before his first round contest following his knee injury.
“I’m devastated, obviously, it’s my home grand slam,’, I’ve had some great memories here. Obviously last year winning the title in doubles and playing the best tennis of my life, probably,” he said during the announcement of his withdrawal from the tournament, a day befor his firts round contest in the Australian Open 2023.

It was revealed that he was suffering from a niggle on his ankle back then. Just ahead of the Australian Open, he featured in an exhibition contest at the Rod Laver Arena alongside Novak Djokovic.
Playing in front of a full capacity crowd, Kyrgios won the contest 4-3, 2-4, (10-9). Kyrgios’ physio Will Maher later revealed that, “We used the charity event against Novak to see if he could compete at the highest level. He however didn’t pull up great.”
The recovery time is said to be between three to six weeks for Kyrgios. He is now aiming to be back on court in time for the Indian Wells Masters in March.
