New Archer in the town! Neeraj Chauhan breaks Tarundeep Rai’s record in National Archery Championships

Neeraj Chauhan scored 692 points to break Tarundeep Rai’s record, while Olympian Ankita Bhakat topped the women’s ranking at the National Archery Championships.

Neeraj Chauhan shone brightly at the National Archery Championships, held at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur. On Tuesday, he broke Tarundeep Rai’s longstanding record of 687 points by scoring an impressive 692, topping the recurve men’s ranking round.

Policeman Neeraj, whose career is seeing a resurgence thanks to changes in his training regimen, displayed remarkable consistency. He led at the halfway mark and eventually finished strong, scoring 345 and 347 in the two segments. “I felt something special would happen today. I’m excited to carry forward this form,” Neeraj shared.

Ankita Bhakat dominates Women’s section

In the women’s category, Olympian Ankita Bhakat claimed the top spot with 667 points, narrowly missing her personal best by three points. Battling a shoulder issue, Ankita showed a brilliant display of game to lead the Jharkhand team into the finals. Alongside teammates Komalika Bari and Tamanna Verma, she helped Jharkhand edge past Maharashtra with a hard-fought 5-3 victory in the semifinals.
