Pakistan javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, who happens to be a close rival of Indian Neeraj Chopra, is all set to undergo knee surgery in the UK, hoping to be fit in time for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The current CWG champion, Arshad had skipped the Asian Games 2023 due to the same knee issue.
“I have decided to have the knee surgery now because it has been bothering me a lot since last year, and I tried rehab programs, but they didn’t work,” Arshad was quoted as saying by PTI.
Meanwhile, this is for the second time in close to a year, that Arshad will be flying to the UK for surgery. Back in December 2022, he ha underwent elbow surgery.

Historic CWG Gold for Arshad Nadeem
Back at the CWG in 2022, he created history of sorts, when he became the first Pakistani gold medalist in close to 60 years. The win was even more historic since it was only the second time that an Asian athlete had crossed the 90m barrier. Apart from that, he also became the first Pakistani to win a medal at the World Championships in 2023.
