Neeraj Chopra Javelin Final: India settles for silver, Pakistan gold

Tokyo Olympics champion Neeraj Chopra will face tough competition Jakub Vadlejch, Anderson Peters, Arshad Nadeem and Julian Weber for another 🥇.

Neeraj Chopra Javelin Final LIVE: What a performance in the javelin final have we witnessed here. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem just leapfrogged every athlete with an Olympic record of 92.97m, followed by Neeraj Chopra in the second position. The Indian could manage a best throw of 89.45m only.

The time has come for India to taste gold at Paris Olympics for the first and perhaps the last time. In the Men’s Javelin Final, Neeraj Chopra will be up against a strong field, aiming to replicate his Tokyo Olympics triumph. If he does that, he will be the first Indian athlete to win two gold medals in an individual event. He will also enter the history books as one of the best Olympians ever. With 1.45 billion people rooting for him, nothing less than a gold medal will suffice, especially after he set the tone with a mammoth 89.34m throw to top the qualification round.

Despite struggling with injuries in 2024, Neeraj Chopra did not show any signs of slowing down. In the qualification, he threw the season’s best. However, he needs to be wary of the competition. Jakub Vadlejch, Anderson Peters, and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem have longer throws as personal best than Neeraj. Also, never discount Julian Weber. He would be looking for redemption too.

The final starts at 11.55 PM on Thursday. You can tune in to Sports18 and JioCinema to watch Neeraj Chopra in action.
