Neeraj Chopra ‘gifts’ his Paris Olympics silver medal to football legend Sunil Chhetri

Neeraj has backed his 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal by winning a silver in Paris. Meanwhile, Chhetri retired from football just two months ago.

Two of India’s greatest athletes, Neeraj Chopra and Sunil Chhetri, met in the Paris Olympics village. It isn’t the first time the sports icon has come face-to-face. The Hall of Famers have slowly developed a good bond, with Neeraj meeting Chhetri’s newborn son earlier in the year.

GOATs of Indian Sports

Neeraj had failed to defend his Olympic gold as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem bested him for the first time in their ten meetings, but it seems like, much like the rest of India, Chhetri isn’t disappointed with a silver medal podium finish for the javelin star. At the pinnacle of their respective sports, the two athletes clearly understand what it takes to get there. From struggles to achievements, they know what they go through to become the best.

Chhetri, who retired in June, is one of the many retired Indian athletes who have gone to Paris. Abhinav Bindra, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Rahul Dravid are some of the famous retired sportsmen who travelled to France for the Olympics.
