After winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics, Neeraj Chopra is back to training and all set to compete in the upcoming Diamond League on 22nd August in Switzerland. Currently, Neeraj Chopra is in Switzerland, focusing on his training.
In a recent media interaction, Neeraj discussed his plans. “Initially, I planned to participate in the European Diamond League and the final Diamond League. Fortunately, my injury didn’t worsen after Paris. Thanks to Ishaan Bhai’s treatment, I’m feeling better. I’ve decided to participate in the upcoming Diamond League on the 22nd,” Neeraj said.
Break after the League
The Diamond League is the final league competition of the season. After this, Neeraj Chopra will spend some time in India and focus on his recovery from the injury. Doctor consultations and spending time at home will be his priorities during the break.
Training after the Paris Olympics
Talking about his training, Neeraj said, “After returning from Paris, I started training again after three to four days. In Paris, I was busy with interviews and other commitments, but once I returned, I resumed my training.”
No Time for surgery-Neeraj Chopra
When asked if he should have undergone surgery before the Olympics, the Haryanvi javelin thrower, said, “I had the option to undergo surgery before the World Championships in Doha, but I wanted to compete. Mentally, I was prepared, and my training was going well. However, the doctor advised surgery, and I made the right decision to avoid further injury. It allowed me to perform well in the World Championships and other competitions.”
