National Games: Ashi Chouksey breaks national record in 50M Rifle 3 Positions

Mahdya Pradesh's shooter Ashi Chouksey breaks the national record in Women's 50m Rifle 3 Position during the National Games happening in Uttrakhand.

During the 50M Rifle 3 Positions Women event at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh’s shooter Ashi Chouksey set a new national record with a score of 598. She surpassed the previous record of 594, held by Sift Kaur Samra from the 2023 ISSF National Championship on Sunday.

Ashi shared her views on this exceptional achievement and said, “I think I worked very hard for this, and I believe the credit goes to everyone who has supported me including my coach, sponsors, family, and friends. Each one of them has played a role in my victory today. This is a moment of pride for me, especially because there was no one from my sport before, and here I am, achieving this milestone.”

Ashi Chouksey’s success in Asian Games

Ashi Chouksey is not a new name in shooting. She represented India in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, where she went medalless. post that, she has participated in multiple ISSF World Cups. She made a remarkable comeback during the Asian Games 2022. In the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, she secured a silver medal in the 10m air rifle team event and a bronze medal in the 50m rifle three positions. Building on this success, the shooter further distinguished herself at the 2023 Asian Championships in Changwon, where she claimed a gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions team category.

Even after having good form, the shooter from Madhya Pradesh, failed to make it into the Paris Olympics 2024, she lacked a good performance in the sport. After the Paris Olympics, she took part in the ISSF World Cup Finals in Delhi, where she finished 9th in the tournament. Now, she regained her form in the National Games, hoping for more medals and success in the coming future.
