- Agut started the Australian Open this year with a straight set win over Joao Sousa.
- In the second round, he dropped the first two sets against Brandon Holt. He however came back and won the next three sets to enter the third round.
- The 34-year old now aims to reach the fourth round at the Australian Open for the fourth time in his career.
- He started the year with a second round defeat at Adelaide International 1. He also played in the Adelaide International 2 and made his way into the final.

Murray vs Agut Head-to-Head: Both the players have won three games each in their six meetings on the ATP Tour so far. In fact in all their last three matches, it was Agut who claimed the victory. They met twice last year at the Dona International and ATP Basel and Agut won the matches in straight sets. He will yet again look to extend his win streak. But Murray is on a good form and another intense five-setter between both the players can be expected.
