Alcaraz will begin his campaign on December 17. He will face either Andrey Rublev or Borna Coric. The Spaniard last featured in the semifinals of the Paris Masters this year. He played against fellow teenager Hogler Rune in the semifinals. He however withdrew from the match midway after suffering an abdominal injury.
The teenager subsequently missed the ATP World Tour finals. But he was crowned as the year-end World No.1 following Rafael Nadal’s group stage exit from the tournament. Just one week ago, Alcaraz began his first practice after recovering from the injury.
The upcoming year will be a challenging one for the teenager. He will be top seed in majority of the events and will go in with weight of expectations. Alcaraz is expected to begin his 2023 season with the Australian Open.
