Mirabai Chanu touches down in Paris, prepares to change her medal color at Olympics

Mirabai Chanu will be competing in her third Olympics. She won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu has finally arrived at the Olympic Village in Paris. Chanu, who has been training in France for the past few weeks, has now touched down in the Olympic village.

Chanu is a significant medal hope for India at the Paris Olympics. She will compete in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event, scheduled for August 7.

Chanu’s olympic journey

Mirabai Chanu made her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Games, where she did not complete the event due to failing all three attempts in the clean & jerk section. However, she made a remarkable comeback by winning silver at the Tokyo Olympics.

Challenges and achievements

In recent years, Chanu has struggled with injuries, which caused her to miss several tournaments. Despite these setbacks, she has an impressive record in multi-sport events, including three medals at the Commonwealth Games, two of which were bronze. She also secured a silver at the 2022 World Championships. Due to her injuries, she missed the Asian Games last year.
