Manu Bhaker is the first Indian to win a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, after she bagged a bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event.

What could be the secret of Manu Bhaker’s success at the Paris Olympics 2024? Her dedication, hard work, perseverance.. and? On Sunday, after brining India’s first medal in shooting at the Olympics in 12 year, Manu revealed that it was the Bhagavad Gita, that really helped her in her feat.

Speaking at JioCinema, the 22-year-old shooting sensation said, “I read the Bhagavad Gita quite a lot. What was going through my mind was to just do what I was meant to, supposed to do. Just leave whatever else to the destiny. You can’t control the outcome. In Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna to focus on the karma and not the outcome of the karma. That was running through my mind, to just to my task.

A lot was expected from Manu during the last Olympics as well, but she drew a blank. Then there were a few controversies that surrounded her. But this time around, she looked mighty confident, even in the qualification round. The Haryana girl opened up about her struggle days and said, “After Tokyo I was very disappointed and it took me a very long time to overcome that. Frankly speaking, I really can’t explain how good I am feeling today.”

Manu had qualified third in the women’s 10m air pistol event, while her compatriot Rhythm Sangwan had missed the cut narrowly. Come the final, the youngster kept shooting largely within the range of 9.8 to 10.2, and that meant she was rewarded for her consistently.
