India’s ace table tennis player, Manika Batra, stunned the world by defeating the No. 8 player, Bernadette Szocs, at the Paris Olympics. India is currently facing Romania in the women’s team Round of 16.
Manika, Sreeja Akula, and Archana Kamath are competing in the event. With this victory, world No. 28 Manika added two points for India. She played the second match of the sequence.

Despite trailing 2-5 in the first game, Manika made a remarkable comeback, winning 11-5. In Game 2, she employed strategic play to win 11-7. She continued her dominance with pace and accuracy, securing the final game 11-7. Manika won with scores of 11-5, 11-7, and 11-7 against Bernadette Szocs.

In the first match, a doubles contest, Archana Kamath and Sreeja Akula defeated Romania’s Adina Diaconu and Elizabeta Samara 11-9, 12-10, 11-7.

Manika Batra has already been eliminated from the women’s singles table tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, suffering a 6-11, 9-11, 14-12, 8-11, 6-11 defeat to Japan’s Hiranu Mio in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
