Indian shuttlers Malvika Bansod and Ashmita Chaliha faced a first-round exit from Japan Open. While Mansod was defeated by world rank 61, Chaliha went down to world number 4 Tai TY. Both shuttlers lost their opening game 2-0 to be knocked out of the tournament.
Malvika Bansod loses to Buhrova
Malvika started off the first set on a poor note, with her opponent managing to get the first four points before the Indian opened her account. At one point, Bansod managed to maintain a healthy 7-4 lead before it all started to go downhill for the Indian. The set both the shuttlers maintain a neck-to-neck score line but Buhrova had the last laugh as she clinched the first set, beating Bansod 23-21.
The second set saw the shuttlers battle it out fiercely, with Bansod securing the first point in the set. Buhrova managed to clinch the set 21-19, thus knocking Bansod out of the tournament with a 2-0 win.
Ashmita Chaliha no match for World number 4
Ashmita Chaliha was of no match for world number 4 Tai T.Y as the latter secured both the sets in an emphatic fashion. The Indian started the first set on a miserable note losing three points before she opened her account. The one-sided contest saw Chaliha go down 16-21.
She started the second set on a bright note by securing the first point. However, things did not go the Indian’s way as she ended up losing the set 21-12.
