Mallorca Open 2022 LIVE: All you need to know – The Grass Court season of the year is well into its third week and with the Wimbledon just one week away, some of the big names are in action at one of the Grass court Grand Slam warmup event, which is the Mallorca Open. The ATP 250 event has now kickstarted and it is set to feature top players like World No.1 Daniil Medvedev, World No.6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov, Nick Kyrgios and other players. This is just the second year of the tournament in the ATP circuit. Initially this was a tournament on the WTA Tour, which began in the year 2016 and was held until 2019 as WTA-only event. From 2021, it is being conducted as the ATP 250 event.

Daniil Medvedev, who is the defending champion in this event will look to finally win his maiden title this year after he finished as runner-up in the two previous tournaments. He is the top seed in the current edition of the ATP 250 event.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has accepted a wildcard to this tournament as he has also been seeded second. Tsitsipas who went down two places in the world rankings, bowed out from the fourth round at the French Open. He is now looking to enter Wimbledon with a good preparation, as he will be playing his third Grass court tournament this season.

Meanwhile, 16th ranked Denis Shapovalov, Pablo Carreno Busta, World No.20 Roberto Bautista Agut, Botic van de Zandschulp and Miomir Kecmanovic complete the Top 8 seeds in this tournament.

Mallorca Open 2022 Draws

Top Seed Daniil Medvedev leads first quarter

World No.1 Daniil Medvedev, who is also the defending champion, leads the first quarter of the draw. He has received a bye to the second round, where he will face Aslan Karatsev.

Fifth seed Roberto Bautista Agut also finds hiself in the same quarter and both the players are likely to meet in the quarterfinals yet again this year. They last played at the Halle Open in the quarterfinal with Medvedev winning the match.

Nick Kyrgios, Laslo Djere and Taro Daniel are the other players in the quarter.

Pablo Carreno Busta leads second quarter

Fourth seed Pablo Carreno Busta, headlines the second quarter in this tournament. He has received a bye and will face either Federicao Delbonis or Antoine Bellier in the second round.

The other seeded player in this quarter was seventh seed Miomir Kecmanovic. Feliciano Lopez, Tallon Griekspoor and Alex Molcan complete the quarter.

Denis Shapovalov headlines third quarter

Denis Shapovalov is the third seed in the tournament and he will lead the third quarter. He has received a direct bye to the second round and he will face the winner between Alejandro Tabilo and Benjamin Bonzi in the second round.

Sebastian Baez is the next top seed in the quarter. He is the eight seed and he will face Jordan Thompson in the first round. Daniel Altmaier and Dusan Lajovic are the other players in the quarter.

Stefanos Tsitsipas in last quarter

World No.6 Stefanos Tsitsopas will lead the fourth quarter. He is a wildcard entrant and is also the second seed. He will play the winner between Ilya Ivashka and Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round.

Sixth seed Botic van de Zandschulp also finds himself in the same quarter. He will face Marcos Giron in the opening round.

When will the Mallorca Open 2022  be played? 

The tournament will begin on 20th June and the finals is scheduled to be played on 26th June, Sunday.
