Laver Cup 2022: In just a few hours from now, Roger Federer is all set to grace the Tennis court for one last time in his career. The 41-year old Swiss legend will play alongside Rafael Nadal in the doubles for Team Europe against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock. Ahead of the match, Federer posted a live video on his Instagram account while heading to the practice courts near the O2 Arena in London. The four-minute long live video begins as the both the players were seen inside a car heading towards a practice courts near the O2 Arena in London. “So here we are, on our way to last practice, getting nervous with this guy,” said Federer as he showed Rafael Nadal sitting next to him. Both the players had a good laugh as Nadal said, “We didn’t probably had the best preparation ever for this match, but we are going to try our way best as we always did and we do need the support.” The video then continued as they entered the practice courts and began the practice session.

Having been out of action since the Wimbledon 2021, fans were eagerly waiting to see the 20-time Grand Slam winner back in action. While Federer announced much earlier that he is planning to make his return at the Laver Cup, less than a week ago he announced that he will hang up his boots after the tournament.

Few days ago he also made it clear that he will only play in the doubles and is set to partner his long-time rival and dear friend Rafael Nadal. Ahead of his farewell match that is set to kickstart on Friday night, Federer hit the practice court at the O2 Arena in London for one final time. However as he got himself ready, Federer posted a few photos of him carrying his kit bag and tweeted, “I’ve done this thousands of times, but this one feels different. Thank you to everybody who’s coming tonight.” 

A record crowd is expected at the O2 Arena later tonight as the fans in London will all want to catch one final glimpse of the 41-year old, who is regarded as the greatest player of the Open era. With him partnering Rafael Nadal, it is sure to be a treat to the eyes of all the fans at the 02 Arena. The match is expected to begin at 1 AM IST.

For his final match, Apart from Rafael Nadal, Federer also has Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray alongside him in his team and speaking earlier in the day, Roger Federer said, “I am happy to go first because I am the oldest of the bunch and this is the right moment to go out. Tennis is in good hands and lot of good young players too are coming up. The last few days have been special and It’s an absolute pleasure to have shared the courts with these guys”
