Novak Djokovic won his 21st Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon this year, he then hoped to play at the US Open but since he was not vaccinated, he was disallowed from participating at the year end Grand Slam in New York. With that, he has been out of action for the last two months and is finally set to return to competitive Tennis with the Laver Cup.
In this year’s Laver Cup, Djokovic will partner with his arch-rivals Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer and this marks the union of the “Big Four” in Tennis for the first time in the history of the Laver Cup. Apart from them the Team Europe also boasts of World No.2 Casper Ruud and World No.6 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Team Europe will take on Team World that comprise Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Felix Auger Aliassime, Alex de Minaur, Jack Sock and Diego Schwartzman. John McEnroe will captain this team.
Roger Federer and Stefanos Tsitsipas are already in London and have begun the practice under the presence of team captain Bjorn Borg. Djokovic last played in the Laver Cup in the year 2018 and will now join his teammates as the tournament is set to begin from 23rd September and will be played till 25th September. Team Europe is eyeing their fifth straight title.
