Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz is the higher-ranked player for the team and he enters the tournament on the back of a good form. He recently played a crucial role in helping United States inch closer to the Davis Cup finals knock-out stage. He won his first ATP Masters 1000 title this year by defeating Rafael Nadal in the Indian Wells Masters final. This will be the second time he is representing Team World in the tournament and he is looking to inspire and lead his team to their first-ever title. Speaking about his role, he says, “It’s a team competition, so I just want to do what’s asked of me. That might be tougher than in previous years, but I’m ready to go.”

Felix Auger Aliassime

22-year old Felix Auger Aliassime is making his second appearance in the Laver Cup. Ranked 13th in the world the Canadian is looking to get his first victory against Team Europe as he lost his singles tie against Matteo Berrettini last year at Boston. The Canadian youngster claimed the ATP Rotterdam title earlier this year and reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. However towards the end of the year, he suffered a first round defeat at the Wimbledon and a second round loss at the US Open that made him drop out of the Top 10 in the world rankings. Much recently last week, he toppled World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in Davis Cup tie and will look to carry forward that confidence into the Laver Cup.

Diego Schwartzman

Diego Schwartzman is one of the experienced players in the Laver Cup as he is set to feature in his third tournament. Schwartzman is making his appearance in the tournament after losing his Davis Cup contest against Mikael Ymer. On the ATP Tour, he faced third round exit at the US Open after losing against Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. He will take on Stefanos Tsitsipas in the singles on Friday and hopes to add points to his team. Speaking about playing against the Big Four in Tennis, he said, “It’s a big opportunity for us to see these guys one more time all together. It’s an honour to share the court with these guys and a time to enjoy, but obviously a time to win.”

Frances Tiafoe

Frances Tiafoe reached his career-best ranking of 19 this year after making it to the semifinals at the US Open. He defeated Rafael Nadal in the fourth round of the Grand Slam event and carries forward that confidence into the Laver Cup. He enters the tournament as a replacement player after John Isner was ruled out due to injury. Tiafoe however has played in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the tournament. He is the only player in Team Europe, who has won against three players in Team Europe squad and is brimming with confidence. He has played two singles matches in the past at the Laver Cup but lost both his games and is looking for his maiden victory. Before that, he will team up with Jack Sock in the doubles and will face Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Alex de Minaur

Alex de Minaur is all set to make his Laver Cup debut as he begins his campaign by taking on Andy Murray in his first singles match. Minaurhas defeated Murray in their only previous meeting in 2019 and now looks to continue the same momentum against the Briton. However it will be easier said than done. This year Minaur has won the Atlanta Open title and registered career-best performance by reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The 23-year old is aiming to start his Laver Cup campaign with a victory.

Jack Sock

Jack Sock is an experienced hand when it comes to Laver Cup despite his World No.128 ranking. The American is the highest points scorer for Team America so far. Being a doubles specialist, he has won nine doubles matches out of seven in the Laver Cup so far and will look to clinch one more victory when he teams up with Frances Tiafoe against Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. He has had a good time in singles as well with the highlights being his performance in the Wimbledon, where he reached the third round before losing to Australian Jason Kubler. He hopes to lift the first title for Team World. He says, “I’ve been on the Tour for a long tim now and played all these guys in regular events. I think we are more excited than anything to put our best effort forth.”
