Mirabai Chanu is India’s hope for a medal again at the Paris Olympics 2024. After winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Games, Mirabai Chanu focuses on changing her medal’s colour to gold. The 29-year-old Chanu will compete against the world’s best weightlifters to make her mark and win a medal at the Paris Olympics.
Chanu has been training rigorously to prepare for her next challenge. She’s been working hard to earn a podium finish yet again.
Speaking exclusively to InsideSport earlier, the Manipuri weightlifter shared her training schedule and diet ahead of the Paris Olympics.
Chanu’s training and diet
Talking about her sessions, Mirabai said, “Here in Paris, we do two sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, we have one session each.”
“When it comes to the diet, since I compete in the 49 kg category, I have to be very mindful of what I eat and how much I eat. So usually when we train, we keep the weight within 1.5 kg. For breakfast, it’s boiled eggs without yolk. Then there are boiled mushrooms as well. Everything is well regulated,” she added.
Mirabai Chanu loves rice
Mirabai said they focus more on protein as the competition approaches. She said, “As the competition approaches, we increase our protein intake, and carbs reduce a bit. I eat salmon, lots of salads, and then I go in for dals (pulses) as well. Rice is there in my meals too. In fact, I don’t eat at all without rice (chuckles). To load up on carbs, rice can be a good option, and then of course, some cheese as well. For dinner, I have red meat,” Mirabai Chanu added.
