Kiran Pahal almost became the fastest Indian women’s runner in 400 meters. The 24-year old smashed the National Inter-state Championships in Panchkula where she clocked 50.92 seconds. This timing is now the second best, only behind Hima Das’s 50.79 seconds.
The automatic cut off for the Olympics was 50.95 seconds. And with a jaw-dropping timing of 50.92 seconds in the semi finals, Kiran Pahal has already secured her spot in the Olympics. There will be high expectations on Pahal if she can shatter Hima Das’s record in tomorrow’s final event.
Second Indian women to clock under 51 in 400m
After Hima Das, Kiran Pahal has become the second Indian women’s to clock sub 51 seconds in 400 meters. She left her fellow competitors biting the dust by clocking a massive timing. Gujarat’s Devy Aniba Zala came second with a timing of 53.44 seconds. On the other hand, Kerala’s Sneha K came third with a timing of 53.51 seconds.
