Kidambi Srikanth storms into Swiss Open semis, beats Chia Hao Lee in straight sets

Meanwhile, after losing to Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 23-21, 17-21, 15-21 in an hour and fourteen minutes, Kiran George was knocked out from the men's singles quarterfinals.

Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth advanced quickly to the men’s singles semifinals of the Swiss Open 2024 at the St. the Swiss venue Jakobshalle on Friday in Basel. Srikanth defeated world No. 34 Chinese Taipei’s Chia Hao Lee with ease, winning 21-10, 21-14. Srikanth advanced to the semifinals of the BWF World Tour for the first time since November 2022.

The previous World No.1 Indian badminton player completed the match in 35 minutes in Basel, barely needing to exert much effort. The 2015 Swiss Open champion Srikanth will now take on world No. 22 Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun Yi on Saturday in the semifinals.

This performance at the Swiss Open will strengthen his case, especially since his qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics is still up in the air and the Indian men’s Thomas Cup team is about to be selected.
