According to the Athletics Integrity Unit, Kipruto has been found to have biological irregularities (ABP), due to suspicious blood readings. The ABP refers to the Athlete Biological Passport, which shows discrepancies that can reveal the effects of doping.
The AIU added that a notice of the charge has been issued to the runner. The time period for which the athlete has been suspended is not known yet. AIU states that “A provisional suspension is when an Athlete or other person is suspended temporarily from participating in any competition or activity in Athletics. This is prior to a final decision at a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct.”
Kipruto set the World record in 10km by clocking 26:24 in Valencia in January 2020. He also won the bronze medal in 10,000m at the 2019 World Championships. He also won the World Under-20 10,000m title back in 2018.
