Jyoti Berwal has made her country proud. The young 19-year old wrestler has gone on bag the gold medal to become the U20 World Champion in the 76kg freestyle wrestling category. This has been a good run for India, especially after Priya Malik lifted the title back in 2023.
It has been an eventful day for India who apart from Jyoti’s gold also managed to win 2 bronze medals. Komal in the 59 kg category and Sristhi in the 68 kg category won the two other medals for India.

But it was the day for young Jyoti Berwal. She kick started the tournament with a dominating 4-0 win against Tuvshinjargal Tarav. Jyoti looked keen to grab the title and she did that with flying colours. She went on to beat opponents from China and Turkey to secure her place in the finals.
And then she finally registered a magnificent fight to secure the gold. In the finals bout, she went on to beat Mariia Orlevych from Ukraine. Jyoti didn’t give a single opportunity to her counterpart to launch an attack and went on to domination to secure a magnificent victory.
And with this win, Jyoti has won her maiden gold in the championships. Back in 2023, she managed to bag the silver medal in the U23 World Championships.
