Japan Open LIVE: Srikanth vs Chen LIVE – Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy will headline action on the first day of the Japan Open 2023 on Tuesday, 25th July 2023. Both the Indian Men’s singles payer will be up against a challenge. While Srikanth faces seventh seed Chou Tien Chen, Prannoy will go up against World No.5 Chou Tien. Srikanth’s match is expected to begin at 9 AM IST. Aakarshi Kashypa meanwhile takes on top seed Akane Yamaguchi. Women’s Doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will also be in action on the day.

Men’s Singles
Kidambi Srikanth vs Chou Tien Chen
Kidambi Srikanth will face a tough challenge from Chou Tien Chen, who is the seventh seed, in the first round. Srikanth bowed out from the first round at the Korea Open last week and is eager to avoind another first round exit.
Meanwhile, Chou Tien Chen too is eyeing a redemption. He has failed to go past the second round in back-to-back tournaments at Chinese Taipei and Korea.
In the seven matches between the two players, Chou Tien Chen lead the head-to-head record 6-1. They last met at the Denmark Open in 2023and Chen won the contest in three games. The Taiwanese will yet again be the favourite in the upcoming clash.
HS Prannoy vs Li Shi Feng
Eight seed HS Prannoy also faces a higher-ranked opponent in World No.5 Li Shi Feng in the first round. Prannoy couldn’t go past the second round at the Korea Open and is eyeing a comeback.
Li Shi Feng meanwhile returns to the tour after winning the US Open. He will be aiming to continue his winning momentum.
Both the players met twice in the tour so far and on both the occasions, Prannoy won the matches. Their most recent meeting came earlier this year at the Malaysia Masters with Prannoy winning the contest 13-21, 21-16, 21-11.
Women’s Singles
Aakarshi Kashyap vs Akane Yamaguchi
Aakarshi Kashyap will be the only Indian in action in Women’s Singles on the day. The unseeded Indian will face top seed Akane Yamaguchi.
Kashyap needs a miracle to sail past Yamaguchi in the contest. The Japanese will be the overwhelming fabourite when both the players take the court.
Women’s Doubles
Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand vs Sayaka Hobara/Yui Suizu
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will get their Japan Open campaign underway by facing unseeded Japanese duo Sayaka Hobara and Yui Suizu.
The World No.19 Indians will be facing the 59th ranked Japanese duo for the first time in their career. The Indians will be the favourites in the contest.
