The Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) Executive Council members have written to president PT Usha declaring the appointment of CEO Raghuram Iyer as null and void. The EC members approached the IOA president over the salary that is being offered to Iyer.
No more Raghuram Iyer as IOA CEO?
As per India Today, Iyer is currently taking a pay of Rs 20 lakhs per month, which amounts to Rs 3 cr annually, apart from other perks and allowances. The EC members argue that the IOA president does not possess the constitutional authority to independently negotiate the CEO’s salary or issue an appointment letter without the EC’s consent.
The EC members claimed that such actions are not only illegal but also violate principles of good governance and morality. Further, they warned that individuals engaging in financial transactions with IOA funds without due process will be held personally accountable, both financially and legally.
The members of the Executive Council suggested appointing an experienced individual from the IOA directorship as the next CEO.
Previously, Iyer has served as the CEO of IPL sides Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
