The Indian contingent is gearing up for the Paris Olympics 2024, scheduled to begin on July 26. India will send three of its top tennis stars—Rohan Bopanna, Sriram Balaji, and Sumit Nagal—to France to compete against the world’s best tennis players. Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji will pair up for the men’s doubles event, while Sumit Nagal will participate in the singles event.
India has won only one medal in tennis, when Leander Paes clinched a bronze in 1996 in Atlanta in the men’s singles category.
Rohan Bopanna
India’s top tennis player, Rohan Bopanna, is currently ranked fourth in the ATP rankings. The two-time Grand Slam champion won a gold medal in the fixed doubles event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Sriram Balaji
Sriram Balaji will join Bopanna for the doubles event, aiming to win a medal. He is ranked 64th in the ATP doubles rankings. Both Bopanna and Balaji are competing in Wimbledon with their partners, Matthew Ebden and Luke Johnson, respectively.
