Paris Olympics: Rohan Bopanna & Sriram Balaji crash out of Paris Olympics in first round against Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin

India’s Tennis challenge in Paris Olympics has ended. Indian men’s double duo of Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji suffered straight sets loss against Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Hopes were high in the country with veteran Bopanna eager to continue his fight at the mega tournament.

But the Indian duo went down fighting 7-5, 6-2 in straight sets to the French duo. In a match that lasted just a hour and 16 minutes, the Indian duo were sent packing by the hosts.

Hopes were high with the Indian duo to lead India’s charge in Tennis at the Paris Olympics. But that was not the case to be. Veteran Rohan Bopanna and his partner Sriram Balaji were completely overpowered by their French counterparts.

July 28 was a poor day for Indian tennis. Apart from Bopanna’s failure, India lost their clash in the men’s singles round as well. Sumit Nagal too was handed a defeat in the first round as well. Nagal’s defeat came against French Corentin Moutet.

During the day, Former India cricketing star and head coach Rahul Dravid was in attendance to witness Rohan Bopanna’s match at the Roland Garros ground.
